The Comspec DP "Just File Transfer" software has been written for
the novice or the expert computer user to use in the task of PC to PC file
transfer. It is very simple to use for someone who is familiar with modems and
data communication systems. 
The
novice user can be set up by Comspec DPI staff under a consulting contract or
he can look to an expert within his company to help in the task of configuring
the system for easy access from a menu selection. Why should you use JFT? The JFT program when properly
configured can be the fastest most reliable method of PC to PC long distance
file transfer available today. The JFT program is a very simple e-mail system
that is designed for the hostile communications environment of the Plain Old
Telephone Service both domestic and international. It will out perform other
methods on stressed communications links such as Inmarsat, Cellular, UHF and
VHF Radio. The JFT program is designed to function as a hostile communications
gateway for other DOS or UNIX networked systems. The JFT system emulates a
basic Post Office function with a very tight security and restrictions on dial
up access to files on the host network. The JFT Post Office will usually be
configured to reside and function from a subdirectory on your local or network
drive called JFT. The JFT directory is where the program runs and maintains its
records of all transactions. Any subdirectory of JFT becomes a user mail box
for file drop off or pick up which is done automatically on a single link.

JFT is not Versatile, Flexible, or Interactive. To implement those functions will compromise our other attributes. JFT is to be used in applications where communication line cost are high and quality is low and you want to move the maximum amount data in the minimum amount of time with simplicity, reliability and security.
