Why is JFT better than other PC communications packages?
Our communications solutions are focused for the user who is looking for the maximum RELIABILITY, ERROR TOLERANCE, SECURITY and the highest DATA THROUGHPUT attainable in a file transfer and simple e-mail environment. With all of the PC Communications packages such as "ProComm, Hyper Access, Dialup Networking, PPP, Lap Link, PC Anywhere, Blast, and FTP" why should I use JFT? If you always communicate in a sterile error free and non-satellite environment you don't need JFT, anything will work. However, if you must work in a communications environment that is not perfect, one with phone line error stress, or on expensive per minute cellular or satellite systems it is costing you a lot of time and money not to use JFT. JFT is not for everyone for it is a batch mode file transfer and simple e-mail system. We are not going to give you interactive Internet access, standardized e-mail, or any thing that requires keyboard interactivity. Most all of the other communications packages are developed for the mass market where versatility, flexibility, and interactivity are in high demand. To provide those features will compromise the attributes we strive for in JFT.
Error Tolerance is the primary JFT attribute. We designed the JFT protocol to transmit data with 100% packet errors. Our error correction protocol does selective erred packet retransmission with a special error-correcting engine called "Reconstructed Adaptive Packets" or RAP for short. With RAP we do not need the modems internal error control (LAP-M, MNP-4, or MNP-10) to give us a hopefully perfect circuit to connect and start the file transfer. In fact if we leave the modems error control running the file transfer will take much longer on bad communication circuits. The RAP error correction engine saves the damaged packets out of a block, to compare with the retransmitted packets coming from the remote. The RAP engine compares the new incoming retransmitted packets that may also be damaged. RAP then will selectively pick out undamaged portions of the two or more damaged packets to use in reconstructing the original packet. When the reconstructed packet passes the 32-bit check sum, the packet is accepted. Our tests show a ten to one reduction in retransmitted packets when using RAP.
Data Throughput is the next most important difference in our protocol. JFT is tuned to maintain its throughput under stressed circuits with large round trip delays found on radio and satellite links. We transmit large blocks of data with very few line turns to minimize the round trip delay. JFT only retransmits the damaged packets. JFT's RAP will reduce transmission time by a factor of ten to one. RAP has the attribute of effectively reducing the packet size with out increasing the packet overhead. Other protocols may beat us on error free lines. However, no body beats us on satellite circuits with packet errors in excess of three percent. This leads to a lower communications bill.
Security is another important attribute of JFT. Only another JFT system can communicate with your system this isolates all non-JFT users. Links can be password protected and no data is sent over the communication circuit in readable form. The JFT protocol is proprietary and it is difficult to breakout data from protocol. No one can hack a JFT system; the only data accessible from remote systems must be placed, by the user, in an outgoing mailbox. Data picked up by users is automatically archived to a location not accessible to other outside users. . IP systems must have elaborate and expensive firewall security systems, which are difficult to setup and manage. We all know how secure the Internet is. Virus software cannot be started using JFT.
The above features combine to give the JFT user one of the most reliable and easy to use communication systems on the planet. JFT can be run from other programs or an icon to simplify user interaction. The JFT system can poll the remotes or it can be setup as a hub with the remotes calling to send and receive files. Installation on most PC systems takes less than five minutes. Just about every function that can be done on the Internet or LAN can be adapted to be done more reliably and efficiently using the JFT system.
Why is ffastestsPC-HSD better than other synchronous PC communications options?
Our communications solutions are focused for the user who is looking for the maximum RELIABILITY, ERROR TOLERANCE, SECURITY and the highest DATA THROUGHPUT attainable in a file transfer and simple e-mail environment. With all of the synchronous PC Communications options such as "Routers & Multiplexers- Multitech, Cisco, Eicon, 3Com, Klas, and others" with "Dial up Networking, IP, PPP, RIP, IPX, and FTP" why should I use ffastestsPC-HSD? If you always communicate in a sterile error free and non-satellite environment you don't need ffastestsPC-HSD, anything will work. However, if you must work in a communications environment that is not perfect, one with digital line error stress, or on expensive per minute satellite systems it is costing you a lot of time and money not to use ffastestsPC-HSD. ffastestsPC-HSD is not for everyone for it is a batch mode file transfer and simple e-mail system. We are not going to give you interactive Internet access, standardized e-mail, or any thing that requires keyboard interactivity. Most all of the other communications packages are developed for the mass market where versatility, flexibility, and interactivity are in high demand. To provide those features will compromise the attributes we strive for in ffastestsPC-HSD.
Error Tolerance is the primary ffastestsPC-HSD attribute. We designed the ffastestsPC-HSD protocol to transmit data on circuits with large amounts of packet errors. Our error correction protocol does selective erred packet retransmission with large blocks of data to minimize satellite delay. For most networking protocols such as PPP, TCP/IP, FTP, and IPX three-percent packet errors will stop the communications link from transmitting any data. The ffastestsPC-HSD system does not even blink with three-percent packet errors and it only doubles its transmission time with fifty-percent packet errors. All vendors of IP based network communications systems will try to avoid talking about error tolerance because they just don't have any.
Data Throughput is the next most important difference in our protocol. ffastestsPC-HSD is tuned to maintain its throughput under stressed circuits with large round trip delays found on microwave radio and satellite links. We transmit large blocks of data with very few line turns to minimize the round trip delay effect. ffastestsPC-HSD only retransmits the damaged packets. Other protocols may beat us on error free lines. However, nobody beats us on satellite circuits with packet errors in excess of three percent. This leads to a lower communications bill. On satellite communications links we can transmit an incompressible one-megabyte file in just over two minutes at 64 kbps and in 26 seconds on a 256 kbps link. We will function with a dynamically assigned synchronous bit rate. With our resume function you will almost never have to start a file over from the beginning even on link loss or a sender power fail. Link setup and disconnect is minimal with ffastestsPC-HSD a null link takes only 12 seconds. With Routers a null link can take over two minutes.
Security is another important attribute of ffastestsPC-HSD. Only another ffastestsPC-HSD system can communicate with your system this isolates all non-ffastestsPC-HSD users. Links can be password protected and no data is sent over the communication circuit in readable form. The ffastestsPC-HSD protocol is proprietary and it is difficult to breakout data from protocol. No one can hack a ffastestsPC-HSD system; the only data accessible from remote systems must be placed, by the user, in an outgoing mailbox. Data picked up by a user is automatically archived to a location not accessible to other outside users. The ffastestsPC-HSD system is working with government supplied KIV-7 and KG-84C external encryption devices and with commercial encryption devices. Files can be compressed and encrypted before transmission to maximize throughput. IP systems must have elaborate and expensive firewall security systems, which are difficult to setup and manage. We all know how secure the Internet is. Virus software cannot be started using ffastestsPC-HSD.
The above features combine to give the ffastestsPC-HSD user one of the most reliable and easy to use communications systems on the planet. ffastestsPC-HSD can be run from other programs or an icon to simplify user interaction. The ffastestsPC-HSD system can poll the remotes or it can be setup as a hub with the remotes calling to send and receive files. Installation on most PC systems takes less than ten minutes.
